Privacy Policy
Your business data should stay protected.
This policy explains how GoBooks approaches privacy and data protection for South African freelancers, startups, and small businesses. It is written for early access use and will be updated as the product matures.

Information we collect
GoBooks collects account details, organisation and company profile information, customer and supplier records, quotes, invoices, expenses, receipts, uploaded files, banking details entered or connected by you, audit activity, device/session information, and support messages needed to operate and secure the product.
How we use information
We use information to provide secure login, company switching, accounting workflows, dashboards, reports, document generation, file storage, support, fraud and abuse prevention, product improvement, and required operational communications.
Financial data handling
Financial records are treated as sensitive business information. GoBooks uses your data to calculate and display your own accounting records; we do not sell your customer, supplier, invoice, payment, banking, or tax information.
Organisation-level data separation
Business data is scoped to the active organisation. Users must be members of an organisation before GoBooks returns that organisation's data from server-side routes.
South African privacy posture
GoBooks is built with POPIA-aware product practices. We aim to collect only necessary information, protect business records, restrict access to authorised users, and support reasonable access, correction, export, and deletion requests.
AI Copilot safety
AI features provide explanations, summaries, and drafting assistance only. They are not accountants, tax practitioners, lawyers, or financial advisors, and they must not invent numbers. Review AI-generated content before using it.
Compliance and readiness packs
GoBooks prepares reports and SARS, CIPC, accountant, and funding readiness packs for manual submission, accountant review, or application support. GoBooks does not submit directly to SARS, CIPC, or funders.
Data export and deletion
GoBooks lets signed-in users initiate an account and data deletion request from Settings under Security. The request is reviewed before destructive action because accounting records may be subject to ownership, legal, tax, or financial retention requirements.
Retention and backups
GoBooks keeps operational records and backups for resilience, auditability, security, and legal or tax retention needs. Deletion requests may therefore require review, verification, and staged removal from live systems and backups.
Contact
For privacy, access, correction, or deletion requests, signed-in users can start in Settings → Security → Delete account and data, or contact the GoBooks team through your early access support channel. You can also email support@gobooks.co.za.
